Change, innovation and the future of nursing in clinical care

The combination of nursing, confidence and future orientation seems to be a challenging leap of thought under the impressions of the corona pandemic. The nursing profession in particular has impressively demonstrated its potential, dynamism and creative power in hospitals and university clinics worldwide. This brought the profession broad social recognition, while at the same time challenges, development needs and opportunities have undoubtedly become clear once again. Václav Havel, Czech politician and playwright, once said that hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well or the applause one receives for something, but the certainty that something has meaning. This requirement, combined with an invitation to create powerfully, is fulfilled by professional care work without question.

With the second VPU Congress, the Association of Nursing Directors of University Hospitals and Medical Universities in Germany (VPU) e.V., together with its Nursing Science and Practice Development Network, ventured a look into the future of clinical nursing care. In eight free live webinars, speakers from nursing practice, nursing management, nursing science, medicine and the health care industry presented current best practice examples and innovative future designs of the nursing profession.
